🔒 The short version: PaperLens processes everything on your device. We collect no personal data, send nothing to servers, and require no account. Your documents are yours, always.

Who We Are

PaperLens is developed and published by PlayPal Apps, an independent developer. By using this app you agree to the terms described in this policy.

Data We Collect

We collect no personal data. PaperLens does not require an account, does not track you, and does not send any information to external servers.

How Your Data Is Processed

All processing happens entirely on your device:

Scanning & OCR — Document images and extracted text never leave your device.
Translation — Powered by Google ML Kit running locally. No text is sent to any translation service.
Biometric authentication — Face ID and Touch ID are handled by iOS/Android. PaperLens never accesses or stores biometric data.
Document storage — All files are stored in your device's local app storage only.
Backup — The backup feature creates a local ZIP file that you can save wherever you choose via your device's share sheet. Nothing is uploaded automatically.

Analytics & Tracking

We collect no analytics, crash reports, or usage data. There are no third-party tracking SDKs in PaperLens.

Permissions

Camera — To scan documents.
Photo Library — To import images from your gallery.
Face ID / Touch ID — To lock and unlock secure folders.
Contacts — To save business card data you choose to extract.
Local Storage — To save scanned documents on your device.

No permission is used beyond its stated purpose.

Feature Disclaimers

OCR: Text recognition results may contain errors. Do not rely on extracted text for legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical decisions without independent verification.
Translation: Translations are generated by an on-device machine learning model and may be inaccurate. Not suitable for legal, medical, official, or safety-critical use.
Digital Signatures: Signatures created with this app are image-based annotations. They may not constitute a legally binding electronic signature under applicable law (e.g. eIDAS, ESIGN Act). Consult a legal professional for binding agreements.
Redaction: Always verify that all sensitive information has been fully removed before sharing a redacted document. We accept no liability for residual data.
Receipt / Business Card Parsing: Extracted data is for reference only. Always verify against the original document.

No Warranty

This app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or damages resulting from use of or inability to use the app.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, the developer's total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant in-app purchase or subscription period.

Purchases & Subscriptions

PaperLens Pro is available as a monthly subscription, annual subscription, or one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or Google Play account (Play Store → Subscriptions).

All payments are processed by Apple or Google and subject to their terms of service. Refunds are subject to Apple's or Google's refund policy. The developer has no control over and assumes no liability for the payment process. Unused portions of a free trial are forfeited upon purchase of a subscription.

Children's Privacy

PaperLens does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The current version and effective date are shown at the top of this page.
