The bubble level doesn't read zero on a level surface — how do I fix it?
Tap Calibrate while the device sits on the reference surface you trust. The current orientation becomes the new zero point. You can reset calibration any time from the app's Settings.
The compass is jumpy or pointing the wrong way.
Magnetometers drift, especially near metal furniture, magnetic phone cases, MagSafe accessories, or chargers. Move away from metal and perform a quick figure-8 motion with the phone to recalibrate. On iOS, allow location permission — Apple bundles compass heading inside the location service.
How accurate is the sound meter?
It's approximate. Phone microphones are not calibrated reference instruments — readings are useful for "is this room too loud?" comparisons but should not be used for occupational, medical, or safety decisions.
The on-screen ruler is off by a few millimetres.
Tap the calibration icon and use a credit card (85.6 mm × 53.98 mm) as a reference. The slider lets you tune the pixel-per-mm value until the on-screen bar matches the real card width.
The flashlight won't turn on.
Make sure another app isn't holding the torch (camera apps often do). Force-close the App and reopen. On some devices the torch can also be paused while the phone overheats.
Why does the compass ask for location on iOS but not Android?
Apple's CoreLocation framework bundles the magnetic-heading API inside location services, so iOS requires the location permission even though no coordinates are read or stored. Android exposes the magnetometer directly with no permission required.
Why do I see ads?
ToolTrunk is free. A small banner ad on each tool helps us keep it that way. We use Google AdMob — we never see your personal data ourselves, only aggregate revenue reports. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
How do I change my ad-consent choice?
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the App shows a consent dialog on first launch. You can re-open it any time from the app's Settings → Privacy options. To opt out of personalized ads at the OS level: iOS → Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → ToolTrunk. Android → Settings → Google → Ads.
Does ToolTrunk work offline?
Yes. Every tool runs entirely on-device. The only network activity is from Google AdMob loading ad creatives.
Is ToolTrunk available on both iOS and Android?
Yes — launching on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android.
